Handshake has content tailored to each student, connecting them with thousands of employers and job opportunities across the country.

“Handshake is the right resource for SDSU to position itself nationally as a source of educated, diverse and career-ready talent. ”

Career Services Partners With Handshake To Offer San Diego State University Students A New Online Career Platform That Connects Them To Thousands Of Employers And Expands Job And Internship Opportunities To nationwide.

Handshake, which replaces Aztec Career Connection, went live for SDSU students and alumni earlier this month.

Students create profiles highlighting their accomplishments, skills and interests. Handshake then generates personalized content for each student, connecting them to jobs and internships that match their interests.

“Handshake gives SDSU students direct access to Fortune 500 companies and local employers, all directly from their smartphones,” said Chris Turntine, Associate Director of Employer Services for SDSU Career Services.

Faculty and staff who wish to connect with potential students can create an employer account in Handshake. Those with an Aztec Career Connection account should have received an email with instructions, but all teachers and staff with recruiting needs are eligible to create a Handshake account.
Faculty and staff can also use Handshake to direct students to opportunities through an individual courtesy account. Courtesy accounts provide access to the most useful information in Career Services for advising students – job and internship listings, campus recruiting, major events, workshops, information sessions, and career and graduate school fairs. For more information and to create a courtesy account, contact Turntine at [email protected].

Similar to a social media platform, Handshake allows students to network by communicating directly with employers, students at other universities, and recently hired graduates.

Northwestern Mutual, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Qualcomm, Deloitte, GEICO, Fidelity Investments, and Berkshire Hathaway – companies that have long recruited Aztecs – are among the major employers that have migrated to Handshake.

“Handshake is the right resource for SDSU to position itself nationally as a source of educated, diverse and career-ready talent,” said James tarbox, General Manager of Career Services.

Chrissy Conde, Talent Acquisition Manager for Enterprise Holdings, the parent company of Enterprise Rent-A-Car and Gold Partner Sponsor with SDSU Career Services, said the company’s experience with Handshake has been excellent and that she looks forward to strengthening her partnership with SDSU.

“Handshake is a great tool that allows our talent acquisition team to streamline our recruiting efforts for multiple opportunities with our top academic partners like San Diego State University,” Conde said. “Not only can students learn more about our company, but it helps us recruit the best talent by capturing information about students and alumni with diverse backgrounds and backgrounds, which gives us a diverse candidate pool. “

Handshake also simplifies student access to campus resources. Through the Handshake platform, students can register for career fairs and workshops, apply for a range of on-campus jobs, and schedule career counseling sessions.
