The CRA has just shut down all of its online services due to a ‘security vulnerability’

The Canada Revenue Agency shut down all of its online services after a possible security threat was discovered on Friday, December 10.

In A declaration On Saturday, the agency revealed that it had become aware of a “security vulnerability affecting organizations around the world”, prompting them to remove online services “as we work to secure our systems against potential threats”.

This means that Canadians trying to log into their CRA accounts were unable to do so over the weekend.

Instead, they receive a notice explaining that all online services are currently unavailable.

From Sunday morning, normal services hadn’t come back yet.

The agency confirmed that there are currently no signs of any compromise of CRA systems, “or that there has been unauthorized access to taxpayer information as a result of this vulnerability.”

That said, they acknowledged that the temporary suspension of CRA online services could cause inconvenience to some Canadians.

“Our services will be available as soon as possible,” the notice read. “We apologize for the inconvenience and thank Canadians for their patience as we work to resolve the situation. »

The ARC did not provide additional details on the nature of the security vulnerability, but the agency promised to keep users informed of when they can expect normal services to resume.
