Harrisburg, Pennsylvania Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry (L&I) Secretary Jennifer Berrier today reminded job seekers in Pennsylvania of the free services available through SkillUp® PA, a virtual learning platform offering more than 5,000 unique training modules to help Pennsylvanians learn new skills, polish their CVs and advance their careers.

“SkillUp offers free online training for job seekers in Pennsylvania who want to start a new career or advance in their current career,” Secretary Berrier said. “At L&I, we are committed to helping the development of the Commonwealth’s workforce, and we want to meet job seekers where they are most comfortable. This is why SkillUp PA is so useful – Pennsylvanians can access it right from the comfort of their sofa or home office, on their own time and at their own pace. We are delighted that thousands of Pennsylvanians have already taken advantage of the wide range of programs SkillUp offers, and we want to remind all job seekers that this essential tool is available to them in 2022. “

L&I launched SkillUp® PA in August 2021 to give Pennsylvania workers and employers access to a diverse menu of online courses to learn skills in accounting / finance, office work, customer service, information technology , marketing, soft skills like communication and time management, and much more. As of December 20, more than 5,300 users have registered on the platform, having completed more than 2,200 courses and 2,600 hours of training. The most popular training categories to date include Effective Communication, Business Etiquette, Higher Skill Improvement, Written Business Communication, and Teamwork and Collaboration.

SkillUp offers a flexible and self-directed e-learning service that gives job seekers the opportunity to manage their own training with the aim of improving their market value to potential employers. This includes access to a free program to obtain industry recognized credentials including CompTIA, Cyber ​​Security, Project Management, Human Resources, Microsoft Office Specialist and more.

Pennsylvania joined 17 other states that are using Metrix Learning’s SkillUp program to help working populations update their skills and improve their employment prospects. The Lancaster and Lackawanna PA CareerLink® sites have used SkillUp PA for several years, and L&I is proud that the rest of the Commonwealth is now benefiting from the program.
