​Harrisburg, Pennsylvania – Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry (L&I) Secretary Jennifer Berrier today reminded Pennsylvania job seekers of the free services available through SkillUp™ PA, a virtual learning platform offering over 5,000 unique training modules to help Pennsylvanians learn new skills, polish their resumes and advance their careers.

“SkillUpâ„¢ provides free online training to Pennsylvania job seekers looking to start a new career or advance in their current career,” said Secretary Berrier. “At L&I, we are committed to helping develop the workforce in the Commonwealth, and we want to meet jobseekers where they feel most comfortable. That’s why SkillUpâ„¢ PA is so helpful: Pennsylvanians can access it right from the comfort of their couch or home office, on their own time and at their own pace. We’re thrilled that thousands of Pennsylvanians have already taken advantage of the wide range of programs SkillUp offers. , and we want to remind all job seekers that this vital tool is available to them in 2022.”

L&I launched SkillUpâ„¢ PA in August 2021 to give workers and employers in Pennsylvania access to a diverse menu of online courses to develop skills in accounting/finance, office work, customer service, information technology , marketing, soft skills like communication and time management, and many more. As of December 20, more than 5,300 users have registered on the platform, having completed more than 2,200 courses and 2,600 hours of training. To date, the most popular training categories include effective communication, business etiquette, advanced skills enhancement, written business communication, and teamwork and collaboration.

SkillUpâ„¢ offers a flexible, self-directed e-learning service that gives job seekers the ability to manage their own training with the goal of improving their marketability to potential employers. This includes access to a free program to earn industry-recognized credentials, including CompTIA, Cybersecurity, Project Management, Human Resources, Microsoft Office Specialist and more.

Pennsylvania has joined 17 other states using Metrix Learning’s SkillUpâ„¢ program to help working populations update their skills and improve job prospects.
